About me
|
A fully-licensed and experienced driver-guide, I was born in the west London suburb of Ealing, I finished my schooling on the south coast of England, in West Country county of Dorset, famous for it`s associations with the novels of Thomas Hardy. I hold a degree in English Literature (my thesis on H.G. Wells is in the British Library). After graduating, I became a tour bus driver specialising in tours throughout the UK and including panoramic sightseeing tours of London. I worked in the British Museum for several years and since 1988 have held a series of management positions within London Transport. I also have an extensive knowledge of transport history and am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Prior to becoming a Blue Badge Guide, I was the General Manager of a London bus company. I am married with two grown up children. I thoroughly enjoy traveling, both at home and abroad, visiting historic houses and gardens and am interested in industrial archaeology, churches and cathedrals and also enjoy the British countryside and its varied geography. In addition to the West Country, areas that I especially enjoy taking clients to are the Peak District, the Lake District, the Yorkshire moors and dales, North Wales / Snowdonia and Scotland. I have also led a variety of specialist tours including WW 2, Harry Potter and H. G. Wells. |
