About me

Born in London, but hailing from Barrow-in-Furness, I gained a Geography degree at Manchester University. After an eventful 33 years I retired as a senior Cumbrian police officer. I live in Appleby-in-Westmorland close to the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks, and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With these beautiful and interesting places on my doorstep I am passionate about bringing them to life for our visitors. I enjoy meeting people and am considered easy going, friendly and possess a good sense of humour. My pastimes include motorcycles, gardening and various sports including football (soccer), rugby and cricket albeit as a spectator these days. |

In addition to tours throughout Cumbria including the Lake District I conduct tours of the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors, Bronte Country in West Yorkshire, the City of York, Hadrian`s Wall World Heritage Site, Shrewsbury, Lincoln, Liverpool, Chester, North Wales, the Peak District, the Cotswolds, Oxford, Windsor and Hampton Court. I am prepared to weave tours around these and other venues and places to suit your wishes. I particularly enjoy tours where we retrace the footsteps of your ancestors. All I ask is that you tell me in advance where you want to go to enable me to find those little gems that will make your tour all the more memorable! I always like to contact visitors personally in advance of a tour so I can discuss their hopes and expectations for their holiday, vacation or business trip. I am also prepared to meet foreign visitors at their point of entry to the country before embarking upon a tour and to take them to their point of departure too. |
